Comic Update: Chapter 2 Release date!

I am happy to announce Chapter 2’s release date! Click on the image or HERE to check out the full Patreon post with details on what’s up with this chapter after the, what, 3-week break I allotted to myself before I got antsy and started working on this webcomic again.

I’ll be posting exclusive production notes during the course of the next 3 months as I work to my Patreon Supporters and Early Access to the pages! The webcomic will remain free for everyone! It will be released simultaneously on all my web platforms every Friday at 5pm on November 10!

Thank you so much for reading and your support throughout the years! I’ll see you all next time!

Side note: I’m over the moon with how lovely Lita looks in this cover! I mean the whole cover is looking great, but I had to redraw her face a few times before getting it right!

Color Palette Challenge: Soft Blue Eyes

I have art commission slots available for this type of art! They’re super limited so get one while you can!

Art Process

Hi everyone and welcome back to Color Challenge! This week is the first one where I focus on using a limited palette rather than an arbitrary number of colors. I’ll pick that concept up in a later time, right now I want to play with colors and make more color sketches and illustrations of my webcomic. I picked Aurora this week since I hadn’t drawn her first design in quite some time. It’ll be quite some time before her second and third designs come into play so I can’t go too deep into spoiler territory for comic readers!

I used SutherlandArt’s Color Palette Challenge this week since it’s an overall pretty but mellow palette collection. I wanted to practice my digital art rendering and I happened to find SeaofDiamonds’ gorgeous modeling and I did my best integrate it to my own art style in Clip Studio Paint/Manga Studio 5. I’m happy with the features and tighter brush work from my last painting exercise!

I’ll see you all in a few for tonight’s Twitch Stream!

Materials

Comic Update 1.1.41!

Hi everyone it’s Comic Update day! Check it out on Tapastic & Smackjeeves! This week’s challenge was developing Secondet’s emotions as they realize what Daikonran’s plans were. This page was one of my favorites to plan since I wanted to bring back the tone and work with the “Knight in Shining Armor (t-shirt)” trope a little more. Daikonran is rather aloof given his circumstances but he has the best intentions in mind.

See you all next week!

Comic Update 1.1.35!

Hi everyone, it’s Comic Update Friday! Check it out on Tapastic & Smackjeeves!

This week’s challenge was creating a small dressing room space that Secondet could hide in after his nightly concert. I wanted to make it somewhat intimate with his admirers’ flowers on the boudoir and a small closet. I enjoy making believable spaces in perspective when I’m not rushing through pages. Only 12 more pages til the end of Chapter 1! I’m super excited to actually finish this chapter since it means that:

  • I followed through a long-standing personal project
  • I finally finished writing & drawing a chapter!
  • I pushed through my doubts and posted it!
  • I get to draw Victorian Architecture in the next chapter! I’m thinking of streaming them as I work on them after a brief 2 week break after this chapter is done.

Color Challenge #4: Wilted Ghosts

Check this illustration out on RedBubble HERE! Note: I marked it as Mature to be on the safe side because bloooood and spoooooky!

Art Process

Hi everyone and welcome back to the Color Challenge series for April! I continued on with using the main characters of my webcomic and it’s been fun pairing certain characters with color combinations and symbols. This week I wanted to use my deepest red marker for Nokuru Heba, the doomed medium in Tragedy (Chapter) III along with his companion ghost, Mira. I used wilted flowers to address his state by the time the comic starts and simple lines as spears to make an allusion to the betrayals he suffered.

I had a lot of fun with the high contrast in this piece and the textures I did on the flowers and background. Red is a good color to do in 1 color or 3-color challenges for me; I’ll probably do another illustration in a warmer red marker to give another go!

I’m available for Marker Commissions like these and more! I’ll be working out the Twitch stream feeds this afternoon so there might be a stream today! I’ll post a quick update when it’s live!

See you all tomorrow for Comic Update and on April 27 for the next Color Challenge!

Color Challenge #3: Peonies & Willow Tree

Check this illustration out on Redbubble HERE!

Art Process

Hi everyone and welcome to the last Color Challenge of March! I apologize for the tardy post, I’m still recovering from my cold and it affected any motivation I had to draw the last few days. Rather than skip an upload, I buckled down and drew this in the morning and edited all afternoon to make it!

This week I went with a Compound Color scheme, i.e. two analogous colors and one complementary, to make sure I could get a few mixes from overlaying the markers. I just picked the first colors that fit this one condition, it just happened to be pastels! I drew up several thumbnails to work out the composition and transferred it with my Colerase Pencil. I rely a lot on the line work to make the contrasts, so I make sure use waterproof ink, particularly in the blocked in areas. I got tired when I was working with the willow tree so I refocused my energy by lining the peonies and the main figure (Lita).

Overall, I’m happy with this side series and I hope to continue it during April! I am not sorry for the one pun I snuck in, I love puns!

Materials

  • COPIC Markers in Pink (RV11), Pale Blue (B32) & Jade Green (G00)
  • Pentel Pocket Brush Pen
  • Colerase Pencil in Pink
  • Sakura Gellyroll 08 in White

Timelapse Tuesday #12: Moonflower

Check this illustration on Redbubble HERE!

Art Process

Hi everyone and welcome to this week’s Timelapse Tuesday! My main challenge in this video was to use my PITT gray markers as undertone for a color illustration. I recently bought two large markers in warm and cool grey from my local art shop and I’ve practicing my tonal values in my mixed media art sketchbook. I really enjoy how they layer though in hindsight I would’ve gone with a shade lighter for more versatility. I’ve been challenging myself to make full art pieces with my travel supplies only and so far it’s been great!

The character shown here is Persephone Anthor, the main character in my undergrad project game “The Lament of the Innocents”. I came up with the game as a prequel to “Nightmare’s Tragedies” to expand the world building of Ephialtes and one of the supernatural elements prominent in the comic. I like to associate elements and motifs with my characters and Persephone is usually represented with moonflowers, since she can only see at night due to a curse. I’ve put the game on hiatus to focus on the webcomic and figure out the main mechanics.

Materials List

  • Faber Castell PITT Markers in Cool & Warm Grey III
  • Pentel Pocket Brush Pen
  • Daler Rowney Aquafine Travel Set
  • Sakura Gellyroll 08 in White
  • Canson XL Mixed Media Sketchbook
